That's KISS as in :Keep It Simple Stupid
The "rules" are simple:
1.)Post well...that is...with descriptions
2.) Post often!
3.) Create your own characters, speical areas, buildings, worlds whatever. (see the Settings post for how that works. In general tho' there's a general area like out of town, in towns, beach and one starter building. You can expand on that area, add more buildings or areas monsters whatever you want. The GM only STARTS the action...and occasionally pokes it into movement again if it stalls)
4.) On Characters: There is no character approval. You wanna know what matters? Make something, or a bunch of somethings, that you want to write about/play with. That's all that matters.
5.) Overall: please don't god mod (controlling other characters completely) or try and be overly powerful. In that case...well Fate has a way of straightening things out.
6.) Unlike most games, characters can be in more than one planar area at once. For example: you could have your pirate Francy on the beach, in a city, and in space all at the same time. What happens in the game isn't happening at the same moment in time. Actions or campaigns coudl be happening appart from eachother. That's the point. Therefor you aren't limited to only one area until you leave it. Multiple characters are great.
-----HOWEVER: just for the ease of keeping what's going on straight for people....I wouldn't play the same character in multiple threads in one planar area (like don't put Francy in more than one thread on the beach without "leaving" another. It'll confuse the snot out of your fellow writers)
That's fairly simple isn't it? Create your stuff, write about it, keep up to date, and don't worry about GMs who want to make up for lack of power in the real world messing with you because they can. GMs just run the npcs and worlds...they're not going to pull a TImmy the Powergamer on you (unless you're really really asking for it....)
