I'm in a fix, I managed to fall in love with a straight girl who is eight years my senior, and probably has no interest in me whatsoever.

Hmm.... I never really had that problem. Then again most of the girls I fell for were a few years younger than I am. I guess that, depending on the girl's behavior, like if she's really open minded about such things, you can tell her.
Meh.. I'm not that good at giving advice, am I?

Maybe, if I talk to her a little more, I may be able to bring the subject of homosexuality, and ask for her views on the subject, but, I'm painfully shy, so this is going to be a huge challenge.

^^;; i may be too late to help...but..
im shy too,and ive always had problems talking to people i liked period,about anything, but soemtimes you just have to go for it. it can be a really big payoff.just remember no matter what happens it wont be the end of the world.*smiles* life is a two sided coin,maybe good maybe bad,you never know unless you try and i wish you the best of luck.

heh, no, your not to late, in fact now I need advice more than ever, her job is taking her out of my area reducing our meetings to about two a month. ;-;
I know, you know what? I must just do that and take a big risk, thing is though, like me, she's a typical englishwoman, cold, distant and hard to get near.
I'm almsot the exact same, so it's a little hard. D:
