Diven heard her chuckle, but ignored it. Humans are so strange... They walked into his den, it was larger inside, a fire pit was in the center. There were several chests and shelves along the sides of the circular room. "Welcome to my home," he said."

"It looks really cozy," she said without thinking. It had been a long time since she had been in someone's home. Then again she was the type to stray from people and avoided inns like the plague.
Her dark eyes gravitated to the firepit. It certainly seemed really different from the few places she had been to. Then again none of them were in a cave, or with someone with a fur coat year round.
"Thank you again for your kindness."

"Your welcome," he said, "You can rest while I cook some stew."

"I'd feel bad if I didn't help in some way. I'll do just about anything you ask." Kiara didn't like the feel of being in debted to someone for anything. If he insisted on her staying he'd have to let her do something in return before she left.

"There is nothing else to do," he said. "Just rest," he said as he went to one of the chests and got a big pot out.

Deciding against pushing the issue the adventuress sat down close enough to the pit to feel the heat. She hadn't realized how cold she had been until she felt her limps warm up considerably.
It may have been early fall in this part of the world, but the temperatures seemed to drop considerably in the mountains. And even more so in the valleys it seems... Kiara thought as she enjoyed the warmth the fire provided.

Diven filled the pot with water and put in some dried meat and herbs. "Kiara, why do humans destroy nature to survive? Why can't they live from nature?" he asked as he put the pot over the fire.

The girl looked up at the fox, her features turned more orange by the firelight. "I wouldn't know, really. My parents traveled around without really settling down." Her eyes returned to the fire. "After a brief stop for supplies in a town - mind you it was my first time in such a place - we never went back."
"My parents always taunt me to live from nature. True, some of my belongings were manmade, but it's all I have left of my parents." Her hand ran over the smooth sheathe of her father's sword. A look of nostalgia surfaced briefly before she returned to her typical, unreadable expression.

The fox caught her expression, "Oh, sorry I asked." he said. The fox tended to the stew for a while, then turned back to her, "You seem to be the opposite of everything I know of humans," he said.

"Coming from you, I'll take that as a compliment." She offered him a smile. "I guess it's not often a human and an anthro see eye to eye on that sort of thing, hmm?"

The girl chuckled softly and nodded. "Glad to be in your favor then, Diven." Maybe she'd end up staying for a few more days if he let her. Her body would be quite relieved if he were to allow her to. She hadn't gotten a decent rest in ages it felt like.

Diven went back to the stew and cooked in silence. He stirred the pot, keeping an eye on her, humans tended to have stick fingers too.

Kiara felt the eyes on her after a while, but continued to stare at the fire. It was a nice, calming presence she had hardly ever felt. Leaning forward she rested her head on her arms. Had she been tired she would have curled up next to it and fallen asleep.
After a while longer of feeling his eyes boring holes into her she looked up at the fox. "Is there something wrong? You keep looking at me like there is..."

"Sorry," he said, "I just find it hard to trust humans." He scooted over next to her, "I don't mean to make you uncomfortable."
