[glow=red,2,300The Big Ass List Of:
Genetic Upgrades[/glow]
Genetic Upgrades[/glow]
Genetic Upgrade: slang for "Genetically upgraded vat humanoid of various gene programs." There are 26 Genetic upgrade programs, each with certain abilities and weaknesses. Each program is named after (typically) female names but men can also be upgraded. Parents can pick and choose an upgrade for their unborn child. Some upgrade programs are illegal but can still be obtained at black market habs.
Each upgrade program is listed by program name, quick history, abilities, faults, side effects, and price! (Followed by bonuses for RPG)
::The whole welcome is then repeated in 450 alien languages::
((NOTE: "The Big Ass List Of: Genetic Upgrades" was created by Naughty Otsel. These are free for use in Interplanar, but if you want to use them in a manga or book...at least tell me >.<, many late nights were spent on this.))
1.) Lubomira (meaning: Person who Loves Peace) : upgrade made to instill passivity and peacefulness; designed by the Mars Federation after their people started to get too warlike to control.
ABILITIES: calmness hardwired into the brain, passive, introverted. Upgrades have slower than average brainwaves and heart beats. Lubomira upgrades excell in counseling, peace works, and are immune to stress related disorders
FAULTS: Lubomiras tend to be passive, not go getters, and act like they're "on something." Instead of making a natural peaceful instinct, they just made passive and compliant folks who fear conflict more than anything else.
PRICE: Only 2 million UG Yen per upgrade! This upgrade can be done on older patients of any age; great for that recalcitrant teenager or maid you just can't beat down! Make your appointment today!!
RPG BONUS: upgraded character is immune to mind effects of anger or berserk. Gains a +5 bonus to checks that involve talking people down or resisting riots. Character CAN NOT act first in battle and is always last in the initative list.
2.) Meinwen (meaning: Thin and Fair): Originally made as an injectible genetic upgrade to make the patient thin. Used as a therapy for the overweight (or those who thought they were)
ABILITIES: upgrades have such an enhanced metabolism that they can eat anything they want and still lose weight; the only way for humans living on planets to get to that size -2 and stay there.
FAULTS: once the high metalbolism is started by this upgrade, it eats away at ALL fat in the body, even the fat keeping the brain together eventually kiling the patient in about 20 years. They'll be Twiggy thin tho' with no eating sacrifices. This could be stopped by eating enough to keep the metabolism happy but people who have this upgrade are already dieting and taking other drugs at the time. Women who use Meinwen upgrading no longer produce estrogen and thus cannot have children and lose up to 50% of their bone mass. (makes it easier to remove those useless lower ribs)
COST: 200 thousand UG yen! Now have your children upgraded at birth so you'll never have to deal with a fatass in the family again! Buy two, get one free!
RPG BONUS: because of their thinness, upgraded characters gain a +2 to AC in avoiding attack. Their high metabolism processes poisons with a DC resist check higher than a 25 in 1d4 turns; Meinwens have an immunity to anything with a DC lower than that. Because of their frailness, characters are very weak and easily hurt but they can fit into very small places, blend in, and gain a +3 to all hide checks.
3.) Charumati (meaning: beautiful and intelligent): This upgrade, only administered to unborn babies invitro, grants a photographic memory and enhanced intelligence as well as beauty! What more would you want?
ABILITIES: grants genius level intelligence, no matter what idiots you're related to! Also you are able to remember more and store more in a mini-wetware PDA (Provided by Pico Tech!). This upgrade also grants Golden Mean (Tm) looks concidered to be beautiful by all humanlike species in the galaxy.
FAULTS: Photographic memory is exactly that; you can remember everything, but you might not be able to do anything with it. The stylized good looks always work out. However, some problem with this upgrade gives all patients Narsistic Personality Disorder (so you're obsessed with yourself and think of all other creatures as little better than dirt...you look hot). You can have this treated with drugs free of charge at your local upgrade clinic
COST: 200 million UG Yen
RPG BONUS: +5 to Intelligence/Wisdom checks when it comes to figuring out a problem with given information or remembering something. When trying to figure something out from scratch, or think up a new way of doing things, characters get a -5 bonus to intelligence/wisdom checks. Characters are so beautiful that reactions are always one level higher than they normally would be, and any social based checks when dealing with creatures of a race that would find said features attractive (elves, other humans, etc) get a +2 bonus. However, characters with this upgrade tend to be contemptuous and have trouble seeing past their own. A character with Charumati upgrade cannot take more than 4 ranks in the following skills: Sense motive, empathy, diplomacy, listen, move silently (they're too full of themselves), and bluff. Charumati upgrades gain the Art of Destraction feat for free and automattically have 6 ranks of Perform.
4.) Tuhina (meaning: snows): Colonizing a frozen tundra planet? Planning on working a cold climate? Want your child to be prepared for the next ice age? Tuhina: immunity to cold now in an injectible nanogene tweak formula!
ABILTIES: Tuhina upgrades are next to immune to cold (cold of space vaccum will kill them) from planets and magics; even liquid nitro is slowed down! That extra fat layer under the skin makes it easy for your upgraded workers to mine in the tundras of Pluto without those stupid expensive heaters! Down coats?! FEH! We don't need those! And look at that wonderful pale blue tint to the skin and the black doglike eyes and black hair that comes standard! Ingenius!
FAULTS: With the extra layer of brown fat under all their skin and their higher than average body temp (120 f) and altered body systems to cope with cold, Tuhina cannot go into warm weather, or even regular environmentally controlled habs without some sort of cooling method be it a suit, injectible, or spell. This upgrade also makes it so the patient can hybernate; the only problem: this happens at random and out of the person's control. they'll go to bed one night and not wake up for six months.
COST: 10 thousand UG yen! NOTE: we give discounts for companies who wish to upgrade their workers or colonize frozen planets. Upgrade 100 vic..we mean...lucky workers, and we'll throw in crystal powered Micro Cooler Crowns for all of 'em!
RPG BONUS: Character is completely immune to all cold environments, attacks, effects, and spells. Even the breath of a white dragon would feel like a warm spring day. However, they take quadrupal damage from heat, cannot go into hot areas (deserts, florida at any time, saunas, hot showers, strip clubs) without some sort of heavy cooling. Tuhina upgrades can survive in freezing cold water without a problem and don't need to wear heavy clothing. They do not need to make a Fort roll for survival checks when dealing with cold. A character with a Tuhina can enter the Elemental Plane of Ice with no ill effects but cannot sit even within' 20 feet of open flames without feeling sick.
5.) Halimeda(meaning: the sea): Who needs scuba gear with the Halimeda upgrade! NOTE: only works on altering of children under 2 weeks.
ABILITIES: water breathing! This upgrade grants full waterbreathing, salt or fresh, with just two injections into a 2 week old embryo! Not only that, but this upgrade lets you breath normal air as well! Living on an ocean based planet? Fearing global warming and the eventual drowning of your entire land mass? Then Halimeda program upgrading is for you!
FAULTS: air must have 90-100% humidity to breath outside of water. Some might consider the 12 gills on either side of the rib cage of a Halimeda to be unattractive but most keep that covered when not using them
COST: 9 thousand UG Yen
RPG BONUS: character has the constant effects of a water breathing spell as cast by a 10th level wizard at all times. They can breath in salt or fresh water as if it were air, as long as it's reasonably clean. Water like that from a recently flooded river or something silty can be breathed, but it much harder and a character can't do much else but try and get by. Halimeda upgrades also gain a +10 bonus on any swim check. If upgraded character is in an excessivly dry area they must cover their gills with wet clothing and make a Con check every 5 rounds to stay conscious: Halimeda upgrades can't breath very dry air.
