In response to your great beginning...
Snerk. Amen to that. First some quest where we had to be halfbreeds... then in a universe where someone made you worship them. And they didn't even know that the dictionary lists agnostic as a synonym for atheist.. and the person didn't want you to BE atheist... or to worship any other gods that may or may not have existed before them.
C'mon people... think like the Romans and the Greeks. They were kinda the same religion wise... and throughout history some of the deities could be the same, just called by different names..
On that note, what if a person just believes that the gods amongst them are just humans or some sort of creature that found a way to master whatever it is they are over, literally become one with it, and adapt it's abilities. In Samurai Jack, I think Jack ran into this one kid that had mastered his element, Earth, and had survived for eons. In a sense, he could be viewed as a god.
Or, in Grandia II's case, the gods had died in their own war long ago. The Good and the Evil. In that universe, people in the church of Granis (sp?) had covered that secret up well, and had secretely planned to resurrect the dark god.
And the races.. c'mon... new things are being found alllll the time. And humans are still evolvin'. Why not have a bee-type-person? If demi-humans are allowed, 'specially those of the furry type, why not the insect? Just cause it ain't furry doesn't mean that it can't be cute...
>.>;; I shall be quiet now.. for fear of being yelled at once more... but should you want more, tee-hee..
Okay.. I'm just rambling now...
